FAQs

The Wedding Website of Melissa Kurtzweil and Austin Davis
Question

Is this an adult-only wedding?

Answer

Yes, we hope parents will enjoy their well-earned weekend off!

Question

How do I prepare for the high altitude?

Answer

Altitude is approximately 5,500ft in Heber City, UT. The best way to avoid altitude sickness is to drink lots of water a few days leading up to your arrival and while you are here. With altitude comes dry air and intense sun rays, so don’t forget to bring lotion, chapstick, and sunscreen!

Question

The Lodge is located inside a private estate. What are the hours for entry?

Answer

The Lodge is located inside a private estate. The security guards are at the gate 6:30AM to 11PM. If you or your ride share (Uber/Lyft) need to enter the Lodge after 11PM, please coordinate with us on how to do this. See the FAQ for shuttle services for more info!

Question

Is there a shuttle service for the day of the wedding?

Answer

Yes! We have limited parking at the lodge, so please carpool if you can! TO THE LODGE: Shuttle from Best Western Heber City to the Lodge is at 2:30pm and 3:15pm. The shuttle only seats 12 people. If you are planning on utilizing the shuttle service, please let us know so we can see if we need more shuttles. TO BEST WESTERN/AIRBNBs IN TIMBER LAKES RESORT: - One shuttle will run continuously 9-11pm from the Lodge back to the Best Western hotel. This shuttle will be a 12-passenger van. - One shuttle will run 10pm-12am from the Lodge to Airbnbs within the Timber Lakes resort in case anyone overindulges and needs to leave their car at the lodge overnight. This shuttle will be a 7-passenger SUV. Please make sure you get into the right shuttle! Be mindful that legal BAC is 0.05 in the state of Utah. Rental cars are available at the Salt Lake City International Airport. Check out the "Travel" page of our wedding website for shuttle service companies. If you book with Moody Blu Express and mention the Davis Wedding, they will offer a 10% discount! A minimum 2hr trip is required, so we recommend sharing a ride with others. Uber/Lyft from the airport to the lodge will cost approximately $100. WARNING: we have been notified that uber/lyft are rare to find in Heber City. Requesting them through the app will likely result in a canceled reservation due to no available drivers.

Question

Is there parking available at the wedding venue?

Answer

Yes. Parking is limited, so we recommend carpooling or utilizing the shuttle service. DO NOT PARK ON THE STREET - your car will be towed.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Does a bear shit in the woods? Does a one-legged duck swim in a circle? YES!

Question

Have you booked hotel room blocks for guests?

Answer

Most guests are looking to rent homes locally so we do not have enough interest in hotel bookings. Check out the "Travel" page on our wedding website for accommodations.

Question

What's the best way to RSVP?

Answer

Directly through our wedding website!

Question

Do you have a wedding registry?

Answer

We have built a beautiful home together, so traditional wedding gifts are not necessary. Therefore, we will not have an official registry. The most important thing to us is making memories and exploring the world. We have a cash registry to contribute to so we can fulfill those dreams. The wedding registry cash funds are submitted through Venmo. If you do not have a Venmo account, we accept Zelle payments (mkurtzweil@live.com) as well as checks/cash. We will have a card box at the wedding.

Question

When will the reception end? Will there be an after-party?

Answer

We are currently scheduled to end at 11pm, but the party doesn't have to stop there! We have the lodge rented for the weekend and can continue to party through the night!

Question

How will you communicate any updated information and/or changes before the wedding?

Answer

In the event that changes are made, we will contact you directly via text or email.

Question

What's the best way to contact you if I have additional questions?

Answer

Up until the wedding weekend, feel free to text us with any questions. As we get closer to the wedding weekend, please contact one of our parents. If you need their numbers, let us know!

Question

What are Utah alcohol laws?

Answer

The most important ones to know for your visit: 1. Utah’s blood alcohol content limit is 0.05 percent, marking the strictest DUI law in the country. 2. Driver's licenses are required to purchase alcohol, whether in a liquor store, restaurant, or bar. 3. Liquor, wine, and beer are available at licensed restaurants and bars seven days a week. Alcoholic beverage service in a licensed restaurant requires that food be ordered with your drink, and that it be delivered by an authorized employee. Beer may be also purchased in establishments that have a "beer only" type license. These include taverns, beer bars, some restaurants or cafes, snack bars, etc. Beer service in a tavern or bar does not require that you order food. 4. All packaged liquor, wine, and heavy beer (more than 5% ABV) must be purchased from a Utah state liquor store. Beer and similar products like hard seltzers may be purchased at most grocery and convenience stores in Utah. Wine is not available in grocery stores and can only be bought at authorized state stores. 5. Minors are allowed at restaurants, but they are not allowed at bars or taverns.
