Dan and Austin had worked for the same company for 8 months, yet their paths never really crossed until a fateful company Christmas party in December 2017. The day of the party, Austin had gone home to change into more festive clothes, and by the time she arrived and grabbed food at the buffet, all the seats were taken. She looked around and noticed a guy that she had seen around the office sitting on a lone radiator, talking with a coworker. And that radiator was just big enough for two....so she went over, sat down, and the two started chatting. They talked about their favorite music, office drama, and swapped funny stories. Dan stuck by her side almost the entire party...even when Austin ventured out onto the dance floor for the Cupid Shuffle! They kept the conversation going well into the afterparty (despite curious glances and whispers amongst their coworkers), and the rest is history!
It was a cloudy Spring day, and the weather forecast wasn't looking particularly great for an evening outdoors. Austin began to suggest to Dan that they push their annual dinner at Tavern on the Green off until another day. Dan, ever so slightly out of character, was adamant that it would still be a good night to go. Austin said "ok", looking past Dan's suspicious comment that he would even "carry her jacket" if she needed one (an unusually kind offer!). Little did she know, Dan's adamancy had a little something to do with a certain non-refundable photographer, who was already making his way to Central Park. Arriving at the park, the sun was beginning to peek through the clouds. Dan had suggested they head in early to take a walk through the park before dinner, to which Austin was never one to say "no". As Dan led them through a hidden nature preserve (that he had secretly scouted out the day before) he nervously kept checking his watch - another suspicious behavior, but one that Austin decided to brush off as nervousness about making their dinner reservation. Dan eventually led them to a secluded spot overlooking the Pond and asked someone to take a picture of them. To Austin's surprise and confusion, that innocent bystander turned out to be Dan's photographer, and it was then that Dan got down on one knee, and their amazing little moment was captured - along with an engagement photoshoot right then and there at golden hour in Central Park. ♡♡♡ (P.S. The happy couple would love to provide more details on what was said during this perfect proposal, but they both blacked out momentarily.)
