She was teaching fourth and fifth grade Science. He was teaching Physics to grades six and up. They met in the teachers' lounge. A year and a half later he asked her to join him on a hike through the San Jose hills, and the rest is history.

While in North Carolina for Christmas, Simon proposed a Boxing Day hike through Umstead Park. Audrey eagerly started inviting everyone in town to join the hike. Little did she know she was planning her own perfect engagement. After crossing over a scenic bridge, Simon got everyone's attention to thank Audrey for arranging the hike. While Audrey was busy boasting about her event planning abilities, Simon got down on one knee with ring in hand. She said yes!
