How We Met

Michelle and Aubry met freshman year of college when they ended up in the same 3D design class together. Michelle thought Aubry was edgy and mysterious because they liked Donnie Darko and Angra. She secretly hoped Aubry would hug her at the end of the year when she gave them some owl stickers (kind of gay). From then on, Michelle and Aubry became very good friends and roommates (oh my god they were roommates). During the summer of 2013, Michelle decided something had to be done. She wrote Aubry a love confession letter, waited a week to send it through Facebook messenger, and after she sent it immediately ran into the bathroom to hide and shut the door (even though Aubry was 2 hours away in their own house). They started dating on December 19, 2013, and the rest is history.

Our First Date

Michelle and Aubry's first "maybe" first date was Mark's Sandwich Shop in Kutztown, before they started dating. They kept jokingly (?) referring to it as a "date" and had a delightful time. When they returned to their dorm, their roommate asked "so was this like a friend date or a real date?" Neither Aubry or Michelle answered the question, and instead retired to their room to watch Seinfeld and hold hands (a very normal friend thing to do). Michelle also frantically texted her best friend Megan, "what does this mean?" (spoiler: it meant something) Their first real and true date after becoming a couple was Uptown Espresso Bar in Kutztown, and the little eatery continues to be their favorite spot to visit and enjoy when visiting their old college.

Getting Engaged

Aubry and Michelle decided to propose to each other at the same time! On a very muggy Friday in May 2022 (Friday the 13th of course), they drove to Kutztown University and found a secluded area near the planetarium building. Aubry proposed with a lovely Zelda-themed necklace to Michelle first, who of course immediately started crying. Michelle then tried to propose in between tears as she kept backing away for some reason as she sobbed, and Aubry had to keep pulling her back. Michelle eventually choked out her proposal and gifted Aubry a hand-crafted spaghetti and meatball pin. They then took lots of pictures, got lunch at Uptown Espresso, and donuts for dessert! And, yes, they are already technically married! They signed the papers on May 27, 2022 with their 2 witnesses, and had a delicious meal at McDonald's afterward. They are excited to celebrate with everyone in September!
