Aubrey and Emily went against the odds and met on good ole Tinder. At the time, Aubrey and Emily were just looking for something casual since they had both recently moved to Chicago for graduate school. They later found out they both moved in during the same week and only lived a 10 minute walk from each other. On the night of their first date, Aubrey awkwardly walked behind Emily on the way to the restaurant because she didn't want to introduce herself before arriving. Emily later admitted she knew Aubrey was behind her the whole time :) Aubrey and Emily hit it off from the start, both being able to share and talk with the other so easily. When Aubrey got home that night, she told her best friend Jane she had a feeling Emily would be sticking around in some capacity. Although Emily friendzoned Aubrey on their third date, Emily quickly realized that wasn't going to work and made it official with Aubrey at a LANY concert a few weeks later! :)
Emily asked Aubrey to go on a fancy dinner date to celebrate the end of Aubrey's internship. When getting ready to go, Emily told Aubrey to wear "something that made her feel beautiful," which Aubrey thought was a little odd, but went along with it. When they got into the car to go to dinner, Emily acted as if she had accidentally made the reservation for later than expected, but suggested they go for a walk in Lincoln Park before dinner. Aubrey thought nothing of this since that's totally something Emily would do. When they got to the park, they saw a couple under the Honeycomb structure in the park taking engagement photos, with two photographers nearby. Emily said, "let's go take a picture under there!" Aubrey tried to stop her because she assumed both photographers were working, but when they got down to the structure, Emily asked one of the photographers to take their picture with Emily's phone. After the photographer so graciously took their picture, Emily turned to Aubrey and started saying the sweetest things. Before Aubrey could realize what was going on, Emily was down on one knee asking Aubrey to marry her! And the photographer caught it all on camera :)
