There’s not a day in my life where I can remember not knowing Dalton. Our story began in first grade as classmates. Through junior high we shared mutual friends and went on countless “double dates” to the mall and movie theatre, as most kids without a driver’s license do. We parted ways in high school, but we were able to keep digitally connected through MySpace. We both attended ASU, where we would occasionally bump into each other at parties. Senior year came, and in true Dalton style he tagged me in a picture of a teacher we couldn’t stand in junior high. That post led to our first date at the drive-in. I fell head over heels after our first date. I was the first one to say I love you, in the best way I knew how…with a candy bar. From that day forward, I’ve ended each day with an I love you from Dalton which makes my heart smile each and every time. I don’t know if there’s an afterlife but I know for one thing if there is, I will always recognize Dalton’s soul and fall for him every time.
