Antonio and Ashley were familiar with each other due to them being from the same town. Years later, they ran into each other at Ashley's cousin Nicole, birthday party. Initially, Antonio had no plans on attending this party but was convinced to attend. While there, Antonio mentioned to his cousin, Tyrrance, that Ashely caught his eye and if she was single, he was going to ask to take her out. Against Antonio’s wishes, Tyrrance let Ashley know that Antonio was interested, and Ashley gave Tyrrance permission to give Antonio her number. After the party, Ashley jumped in Antonio’s DM and asked him "was there something that he wanted to ask her?". Antonio’s response was that he would like to take her out and get to know her better and from that day forward they talked every day, now they are here!

On New Year's Eve, Antonio and Ashley was at Cousin Nicole's house again, but instead of it being a birthday party, it was a NYE party, or so Ashley thought. Family and friends were present, and everyone was enjoying food, drinks, and music, preparing to bring in the new year. One of Ashley’s favorite songs, “Steady Love" by India Arie began to play and as Ashley was singing and dancing in the middle of the floor, everyone began to pull out their phones. Ashley asked "Why are you all looking at me? That's my song!" When Ashley turned around, she saw Antonio on one knee proposing and of course she said "Yes!!!" What a total surprise! What she thought was a NYE party, was actual a coverup for the engagement proposal.
