Four years ago, on two college campuses, God sovereignly chose to save us from our sins and reveal his amazing love for us through Christ Jesus. During our freshman year we separately got connected with a college ministry called Campus Outreach where we learned more about the Bible, what it means to worship God, and the joy of Christian community. During our senior year of college, Jeff decided to go on staff with Campus Outreach in the DC region, where Ashleigh was attending school at George Washington University. At the same time, two of Ashleigh's roommates were also going on staff with Campus Outreach. One weekend in the spring, Jeff came to DC to meet some of his soon-to-be coworkers and get to know the area better. Ashleigh and her roommates invited Jeff and some other Campus Outreach staff to their apartment for cookies. It was there that we met for the first time. Although we didn't speak much, we noticed qualities in the other person we admired. Our story continues that summer at Alpha Beach Project, a summer retreat that many students in Campus Outreach attend to study God's Word and get to know other Christians at different campuses. We had the opportunity to hang out, and we started to form a friendship through many intense games of spikeball and checking out cute coffee shops with friends. It was there that Jeff decided to ask Ashleigh out in the fall when we were both back in DC. Fast forward to September, and we were both permanently living in the DC area post-graduation. Jeff was on staff at the University of Maryland, and Ashleigh was starting a new job as an economist. The day Ashleigh got back into town, Jeff invited her to a University of Maryland football game with some other friends. We sat next to each other and talked the entire game. Interest was growing on both sides and the next week, Jeff asked Ashleigh out on a date! After that, the rest is history. Throughout dating, we have had the joy of seeing each other's faith, encouraging one another, and pointing each other towards Jesus. We have made many wonderful memories together, such as meeting each other's family and friends, checking out cool spots in DC, and serving at ministry events together. We are so thankful for the amazing gift God has given us in engagement, and we are excited to see what God has for us in the future!
