I don’t really know how to start this so I’ll jump in. My favorite color is pink and you will definitely see that in our wedding. I graduated in 2013 with a Masters’ Degree in Education. My mom is my best friend and has been there for me every step of the way especially in the wedding planning process. I have an older brother Michael II who married my sis in law Cathy and they have two of my favorite people, my nephew (Michael III) and niece (Khloe). I have an older sister Jennifer who is looking after me from Heaven with other family members including my dad who I lost three years ago during one of the worst times in my life. After losing my sister and my dad I was trying to put my life back together and find a new normal when Fonzo entered into my life and well, the rest is history!!!

I (Ashlee) am going to write this because I know him and he will forget to write something. Fonzo is the oldest child and has a younger sister Yesenia who is married to Nazario. Fonzo is an amazing, active Catholic who loves to serve God. He is a family man who is very respectful of his parents. He loves the Dodgers and can’t believe he found a girl who loves the Dodgers as much as him. In his free time with friends he enjoys WWE. Over this past year and a half we have both shared very different experiences and foods with one another and can’t wait to continue with more! We need to thank our moms who told each of us to date the other and Fonzo finally listened and asked me to go on a date and well, now everyone knows how it ends! We are excited to see what the Lord has in store for us!

Michelle and I have been best friends since first grade, over 25ish years ago. We didn’t always go to the same schools but we always kept our friendship. Fast forward to today and we have both graduated with our Masters, have been through an incredible amount of life together, and we live two streets from each other. We are both book worms and she is basically my own personal library. We both love the same movies and books and can binge watch Disney movies any day of the week. When we get together, the time flies and we can end up laughing so hard we cry or we share memories that make us cry. When we are together we don’t even need to speak to understand what the other is saying, we can just give a look and then a laugh usually follows.

I met Helen at church a long time ago. Her and I worked together back when I ran the youth ministry program at church and she volunteered to help. Our friendship just grew from there. When Helen got married I was a Bridesmaid in her wedding and now she is one in mine. Helen is known for being late to everything but she will always be there! Helen and I love to bake together and I am teaching her my techniques. We have such a great time catching up and baking on the Friday’s that we are both free. Helen’s husband Erik has become a close friend too and he is extremely protective and is so sweet. He is very quiet and reserved but an awesome friend. Helen loves Beauty and the Beast (almost) as much as I do! :) Helen and I speak of being excited to share in our futures and families together.

I met Jesse during a church retreat in 2000. Ever since he has been like family. We have had many great adventures together.

Yoanna Herrera

Yoanna is my newest friend but I feel like I have known her for a very long time. I met Yoanna when she started working with my mom at the church office. We became fast friends and I even changed my lunch hour at work to match’s hers so we could all have lunch together. Yoanna tells it like it is but will also beat someone up if they mess with someone she cares for. She has included us in family events and I have fallen in love with her kids. Yoanna sends me photos of the kids which I love and invites us to do things with them, such as when we went to the Pumpkin Patch and when we all go have dinner together.

Sabrina and I have known each other since I moved to St. Madeleine in 4th grade and we have been friends since. Sabrina is quiet and a fiercely loyal friend. We might not talk every day but the second one of us needs something we are always there for each other. We ended up going to school together all the way through graduating with our Bachelors at the University of La Verne where we even carpooled together for a few years. When we carpooled I remember Sabrina’s grandma always trying to feed me even if I had just eaten. Since we have known each other for so long, we have been through a lot of losses together, but no matter how busy we are we both have dropped everything to be there for each other during the grieving process.

What can I say about Randy! He is a very outspoken guy whom I met when we were working for Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. He worked for Behavioral Health and I worked the security department. What brought us together was our love for wrestling. We hang out every chance we get to continue watching wrestling!

I’m not sure when I first met Yesenia but Fonzo has known her since birth :) I am very excited to call Yesenia my sister and we both try to make time to hang out. I think our favorite thing to do together is bake. Yesenia has gone out of her way to attend every wedding event and I have been truly grateful for her. What I love about Yesenia is her love for God and family. When Fonzo told her about our future engagement she was extremely excited and couldn’t wait to be there and lend her moral support. Fonzo said, “She is my nerd and I love her to death.”

Michael aka “Little Mike” made me an Auntie and I am so proud of who he has become, even when he loves to lord his height over me, he is around 6’2” and growing. When he was born, I was in high school and I loved to show my friends pictures of him every chance I got. He is now almost done with high school where he is an amazing Pole Vaulter. No matter how old he gets if I say Munchkin he turns and says, “yes Auntie”. Unlike his sister, he showed hardly any emotion when I told him I was getting married, his biggest concern was if he was invited and was going to get to eat dinner. Little did he know we had plans for him to be a Groomsmen. When we asked him to be a Groomsmen, he asked what he had to do and Fonzo said to look pretty for pictures and Michael said he could definitely do that!

Khloe has had my heart since the day she was born. She made me an auntie for the second time and I couldn’t be prouder. She has had me wrapped around her finger (and always will). When we lived together, we did everything together and it was such an amazing time. Even though I want to keep her little I love watching her grow up. When I was ready to introduce Khloe to Fonzo I “broke” the news to her before meeting him for the first time. She didn’t mind Fonzo because he bought her a birthday present but when it came time to tell her we were engaged she did not take it so well. She was afraid I would love her less and no longer want to hang out with her. She now knows it just means she has someone else who loves her and now she gets to wear a pretty dress and shoes for our wedding.

We met Diego through his mom when she started working at the church. We started a friendship with the whole Herrera family and have become close friends with them. When it came time to picking a ring bearer we both wanted him, not just for those adorable dimples, but because he is such a sweet and caring kid. Diego is nine years old and a good big brother to Nico. Diego is a very helpful and respectful kid. We are enjoying watching him grow up and can’t wait to see where life takes him.

We met Deacon John and Joyce when they came to St. Madeleine and we instantly clicked with them. When we were discussing who to choose for our godparents we both instantly said John and Joyce. They have similar personalities as Fonzo and I. Deacon John and I could get into a lot of trouble from our sarcasm. We know that the two of them will be amazing godparents and help guide us in our marriage.
