If you want to take part in ALL of our planned celebrations with us- you will need to be in Cape Town by February 12th at night. For the actual wedding, our shuttle will take everyone to the farm on the 14th in the morning. Therefore, if you do not want to have to find your own transportation to the venue, you will need to be in Cape Town by the 13th at night.
Asad and I will be arriving on February 9th (will be working remotely) and will be leaving on February 17th for our honeymoon :)
From New York, United flies directly into Cape Town International Airport (CPT) on Wednesday/Friday/Sunday or you can fly to Johannesburg / Tambo International Airport (JNB) and then get a cheap connecting flight to CPT. The latter option works perfectly for a February 11th departure and arrival on the 12th. From Sydney, Qantas flies directly to Johannesburg, then a cheap connecting flight to Cape Town.
Please show us what flight you are thinking and we can double check that it is the best / cheapest option for you- after all, this is what we do best!! We are encouraging our guests to make a vacation out of this since South Africa is so far. Please ask us for recommendations of where you can go before or after to help break up the flight as well as any other questions you may have!
Our planned shuttles will take everyone from the venue back to Cape Town on February 16th by around 3 pm. If you need to leave earlier than that, you will need to find your own transportation back to Cape Town from the venue.
All information for accommodations can be found under the “travel” tab. We will be in Cape Town until February 14th, at the venue in Rawsonville from February 14-16th, and then back in Cape Town February 16th and on! *** If booking a different accommodation than our recommendations, make sure to check if they have a backup generator during "load shedding." Load shedding is something done in South Africa. This means that you could be without power for 2-4 hours.***
Petty tourist crime is present but as long as you exercise caution, use common sense, and stick to the tourist areas, you should have little problems with safety in Cape Town. We'll be spending most of our time in Sea Point when in Cape Town, which is a really nice beachy area. There is nightlife around Long Street, which is in the Cape Town city centre, but you must remain vigilant if you go here (frequent pick pockets). Ubers are available to get you anywhere!
We are partnering with an amazing travel company called "Truth Travel" who is organizing all events for us! On the Truth Travel website (found on the "things to do" tab), you can view and select the extra experiences that you want to take part in. Think of it like an 'ala carte' type system where you can pick and choose which pre and post wedding activities you want to pay for and take part in with us!
No need to worry about that- Asad and I have organized shuttles to take everyone to ALL of our planned events :) If you require transportation outside of our celebrations, they have Uber (for cheap) in Cape town and of course, you can choose to rent a car...just keep in mind, they drive on the left side of the road like Australia and England.
Our venue is on a beautiful farm in Rawsonville, which is about a 1 hour and 20 minute drive from Cape Town.
The dress code will be Semi-formal! Ladies, make sure you skip the stilettos as we will be walking on grass at the farm.
February is the best time to go to South Africa because it is their Summer! In Cape Town, you can expect a low of 63°F / 17°C and a high of 84°F / 28°C. In Rawsonville, you can expect a low of 64°F / 17°C and a high of 94°F / 34°C.
Although we love your little ones, this is an adult only affair.
Due to venue limitations as well as our desire to keep our special day intimate, only guests listed on the invitation will be able to attend. Thank you so much for understanding!
