Phillip and Ariel met while they were college students at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. They first met at a dorm party when Phillip was a prospective student, and later reconnected through mutual friends. They realized there was something there, and began their love of Mexican food date nights with their first date at Panchitos Mexican Restaurant. After graduating, Phillip and Ariel began a long distance relationship when Ariel moved to DC for graduate school. Phillip moved back to Houston for law school and they maintained their long distance relationship for a few years with visits back and forth and nightly Facetime calls. Ariel later moved to North Carolina to pursue her doctorate and Phillip followed. They live in Chapel Hill with their two cats Calvin and Winnie. They have enjoyed spending time together and with friends while exploring North Carolina. Phillip and Ariel grew together as both individuals and a couple. Over the years, Phillip and Ariel have shared many favorite activities and memories. Some of their favorite include multiple trips to beaches across the country, exploring Washington DC and the surrounding area, many concerts, mini-golf date nights, and adopting their two cats. They also love sharing moments at home, including watching new TV shows, trying new brunch restaurants and foods, Christmas celebrations, and sitting by their campfire.
In Summer 2023, while walking in the garden at The Fearrington House Inn, Phillip asked Ariel to marry him. Knowing Ariel's love of coffee mugs, and knowing she would add it to her growing collection, Phillip put the ring in a coffee mug which said "I Said Yes!" Ariel did, in fact, say yes, and they celebrated with afternoon tea at the inn's dining room. We can't wait to celebrate with you at our wedding ceremony and reception in January!
