We first met in March of 2011 through a mutual friend (thanks Jake!) at a party that Ari was hosting at his house in San Francisco. Ari was a gracious host, and I remember us talking about his recent move to the city and my upcoming Escape from Alcatraz triathlon. A few months later, and through the same mutual friend (really, thank you Jake!), we found ourselves camping together in Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park. I remembered Ari from his party and was eager to get to know him some more. He had volunteered to drive, so I made sure to snag a spot in his car. By the end of the weekend I was hooked, and I ended up asking him out on our first date to an acro yoga class in Duboce Park. I’ll skip the details, but that’s when the sparks flew! Soon after, we experienced our first Burning Man together, explored California’s wilderness, and fell quickly for each other. We spent some time apart when I moved to Thailand for 6 months, but we stuck it out. Ask Ari to show you the video of a my classroom-full of Thai school children singing him happy birthday from Bangkok. Since then, we’ve travelled the world together, supported each other through life’s ups and downs, and grappled with all kinds of transitions. Over the years, in building the foundation for our relationship, we’ve come to love and appreciate each other’s families and strengthen our Bay Area community. Thank you all for your support! Fast forward 7 years to July 2018: Ari proposed at sunset on the water in San Diego. I joyously accepted with laughter and tears in my eyes. We couldn’t be more excited to start this next chapter of our lives together and to share it with our community of friends and family and to celebrate all together in August. Love you and see you soon!
