Recommended music venues: White Horse, Broken Spoke, Hotel Vegas, Ginny's Longhorn Saloon, and Cheer Up Charlies. Recommended restaurants: Cisco's, Tamale House East, Odd Duck, Mi Madres (the best tortilla chips in the world), Uchi, Uchiko, Texas Chili Parlor, Sour Duck, Launderette, and Spicy Boys. Recommended bars: Kitty Cohen's (where Michelle and Anthony had their first date), Austin Eastciders, Easy Tiger, Zilker Brewery, and Kinda Tropical.

Congress Bridge Bats

100 S. Congress Ave., Austin, TX 78704

Head down to the Congress Bridge at dusk and see the largest urban bat colony in the world head out to eat. Most folks line the shoreline to view the bats but some will also hop on one of the local boat tours to see them leave from the water. Directions: From IH-35 in Austin where the Colorado River crosses IH-35, take Riverside Drive west 0.8 mile to Congress Avenue and turn north. The bat colony bridge spans Lady Bird Lake (the Colorado River).

Barton Springs

2131 William Barton Dr., Austin, TX 78746

Barton Springs Pool is an oasis in central Texas that is fed from underground springs and has an average temperature of 68-70 degrees. The Springs serves as home to the endangered Barton Springs Salamander, and is listed as a federally protected habitat.
