The last two years have been crazy for all of us. We hoped to celebrate with all of you last April, but were not able to do so. While we still got married, we couldn't resist the opportunity to have everyone there to celebrate. So for our one year anniversary, we are inviting everyone to our original venue to have the original party we always wanted to have!
In August 2018, we were both unsuccessfully using the dating app Hinge to find our special someone. We came across each other's profiles and got our first Hinge impressions of each other: Cassandra, a dog mom to Maverick in Brooklyn and Anthony, an athletic traveler who claimed "if making plans is wrong I don't want to be right." Our first date was on August 29th, 2018 and included a couple symbolic elements of our relationship. First, we talked deeply about topics that are usually avoided on the first date: politics, family, religion, views on marriage, children, etc. Second, it was the first of many instances of Cassandra's lateness with a 7 pm plan and a post-7pm arrival. Whether it was 7:50 arrival or 8:10 (we still agree to disagree), we can agree that it was the first (of many) times that we had to be patient and understanding with each other. There was very little time between our second, third and fourth dates, to the point that we struggle to remember the transition from just meeting to spending the majority of our days together. Split between Manhattan and Crown Heights, we put a lot of time into seeing each other and a lot of effort in co-parenting Maverick. Soon after meeting, we realized that we were an incredible match and fell in love. Together, we've ran many miles, given out many dog treats, taken many plane rides, opened up our families and circles of friends, and, especially through quarantine, have realized there's no limit to the amount of time we want to spend together. We are so excited for this next chapter and to celebrate it with all of you!
