12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Anything that gets you in a jolly good mood.
Typically, Christian engagement ceremonies in Kerala are hosted by the bride's side and the marriage by the groom's. So we invite you to Ann's town of Kothamangalam, for the engagement to be held at her parish church and the following reception in the adjacent parish hall. While you are welcome to visit the bride's home before and (especially) after the event, it's NOT considered rude if you have other engagements ;-)
11:15 am - 3:00 pm
This is a suite and gown event, but guests can arrive in anything that will put them in a jolly good mood.
The groom's family hosts the event, and as with most other Christian sacraments, it is celebrated at the Parish Church accompanied by holy Mass (11:15 am - 12:45 pm). The marriage is followed by a banquet at the attached parish hall. You are encouraged to be part of the bride's first visit to the groom's home but it's considered normal for the guests to leave after the reception (but not before the photo session, OK) at the Parish hall. On stage (at the parish hall), we would typically start by introducing the bride and groom and their respective families to the audience. Followed by lighting the lamp, cake cutting, and wine tasting. The bride would leave the stage at this point to change to "Manthrakodi" - the customary saree - the first gift to the bride from the groom after marriage. The photo session commences as soon as she returns and the reception ends with the bride making her ride to the groom's home.
