Matt and Annie met one Saturday in August at Colectivo Coffee by McKinley Marina in Milwaukee. He used Annie's dog Mato as an excuse to come talk to her. For anyone who knows Annie, you know that it is very meaningful that her dog of 11 years (now passed away) was there to evaluate Matt on the day they met. At the time, Matt was considering getting his own black dog. Fast forward a few years and now we have Jack, and Mato is no longer with us. A very sweet transition God gave us from one beloved black dog to the next. We immediately figured out how much we had in common—faith, dogs, skiing, Colorado, left-handedness, being entrepreneurs (with consulting businesses to boot!), and much more. Our spontaneous first date continued into the late afternoon. Annie quickly fell for Matt’s hobby—the waterski team, and was climbing 3-high pyramids within their first year of dating. We look forward to a lifetime of spontaneous adventures, sitting on the "lefties" side of the table, and an ever-deepening pursuit of the Lord.
Our wildflower wedding is inspired by Luke 12:27-28. It is a reminder to trust God with every detail of our wedding and our life together from June 1st onward. “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith!"
