Dan and Annie met through mutual friends at a now shuttered bar on the famous Rainey Street in Austin, Texas. Dan asked Annie out to dinner the following night, and had an entire evening planned where he showed her all the hip and trendy places on the East Side as she had only recently moved to Austin. Dan impressed Annie with his incredible planning skills (something Annie takes much pride in herself), particularly the thoughtfulness and creativity of the date. They continued dating through her first busy season in public accounting, and celebrated its conclusion with a ski trip to Park City, UT, with a few of Dan's good friends, who are also some of his groomsmen in their wedding. Dan and Annie continued to bond over their shared love for travel, and trying out every restaurant and bar in town. And voila, the time just flew by as if on wings as they grew closer.

After Dan and Annie had known each other for a little over two years, they began discussing marriage and what their future would look like together. At that point they couldn't imagine life sans each other. During Annie's busy season at work, Dan had planned a secret weekend getaway to Fredericksburg, a quaint German town on the wine trail in the Texas hill country. Dan had booked a unique Airbnb, a geodesic dome tent with modern furnishings and a waterfall hot tub on the patio, which overlooked the country fields. He proposed as soon as they walked inside the tent, and Annie giddily said yes! Afterwards, a flock of wild turkeys strutted past their tent and gobbled in excitement with them, before the happy couple headed to a downtown wine bar followed by dinner, bon appetite.
