11:00 am - 1:00 pm
If you’d like to explore the ranch, see some animals, and get some exercise, this is a great option! There will be a short talk given by members of Inventure Institute about the ranch, its regenerative agricultural operations, and flora and fauna to look out for while exploring the ranch. Following the talk, there will be a guided hike to the top of the mountain, where spectacular vistas await! There are two routes to choose from. The Shorter Route: With a mostly tree covered trail, you will still have amazing views of the ranch, bay, and Nicasio Reservoir. Distance (1.5 miles), elevation (356 feet), and approximate roundtrip hiking time (60 minutes). The Longer Route to the Mountaintop: After the halfway point, you will experience a steeper climb to the top of Black Mountain. Once at the peak, you will have 360 degree views of the bay area. Distance (3.62 miles), elevation (1,315 feet), and approximate roundtrip hiking time (1 hour 40 minutes). Both of these make great trail runs, for anyone so inclined.
