Her side: We were both standing in the sandwich line at the UTSA cafe, it was his bright rosy-cheeks that first caught my eye. I didn’t know his name, I didn’t know anything about him but the cafe quickly became my favorite place on campus. After two months of calling him Rosy-cheeks and admiring from afar, my friends convinced me it was time to know his real name. I wrote my name and number on a napkin and I ran behind him as he finished up his dinner. Not a single word, not even eye contact, I simply extended my arm, handed him the napkin and ran back to my dorm. For a whole week, I waited anxiously for a text from an unknown number, but nothing came. Then, on the eighth day, I received a text, “Hi, this is Daniel!” His side: There I was standing in the middle of the UTSA cafe with a napkin in my hand. A mysterious girl with beautiful big brown eyes confidently handed it to me but before I could say anything she had already ran away. I opened the napkin and read “Pawie” with a heart dotted “i” and her number… what a cool name I thought to myself and damn was she gorgeous too. You see, my original plans to transfer to an out of state school fell through so I was back at UTSA for my second year and boy was I glad it didn’t work out. That napkin was the first sign of many that I was exactly were I was supposed to be.
