Haldi

9:00 am - 11:00 am

Dress code: Casual attire. Anything goes, from dresses and sandals to jeans and t-shirts.

This is an optional event, so please don't feel obliged to attend if you're suffering from jetlag (or a hangover!). The Haldi ceremony is a pre-wedding ritual where turmeric (haldi) paste is applied by friends and family on the bride and groom. Due to healing properties of turmeric, this is seen as a 'cleansing' ritual and protects the couple from Buri Nazar (the sanskrit term for evil eye). Please join us if you'd like to experience a Haldi, we'd love to see you there!

Mehndi & Sangeet

4:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Dress code: This is the time to wear traditional Indian outfits if you can! If you don't have any don't worry, summer dresses, shirts and chinos and anything you'd be comfortable dancing in will do fine! We advise against wearing a suit and tie. Contact Anjali if you need help adding an Indian spin to your outfit.

This is two events rolled in one! The Mehndi party, is where women have Mehndi (henna) applied to their hands. The bride typically gets a very intricate pattern on her hands and feet - with the groom's initials hidden somewhere within the design. They say that the deeper the colour of the henna on the bride's hands, the stronger the love between the couple will be. The event will be a sunset party including drinks and games! The Sangeet - Often touted as a dance-off between the bride and groom's sides, it literally translates to 'music' or 'sung together' and is an event that's filled with Bollywood themed dances, music and vibrant colours. Get ready to show us your moves!!

Pheras (wedding ceremony)

9:00 am - 11:00 am

Dress code: Indian wear, summer dresses for ladies, shirts and chinos for men. This event will be outside in the sun, making it too hot for dark suits and ties!

A traditional Hindu ceremony. The wedding ceremony consists of a number of rituals that are performed which vary greatly based on the regions of India. This wedding will consist of rituals that are unique to the Konkani people (Anjali's family), as well as some key rituals that can be found in all Hindu weddings. The ceremony will be followed by a traditional lunch.

Reception

4:30 pm

Dress code: Cocktail or traditional wear from your country. Again we recommend to avoid suits and ties due to the heat (shirts and chinos will do fine).

A classic Western reception, including speeches, first dance, food, drinks and music!
