Kristie Chan

Maid of Honor

I think it’s safe to say that I win when it comes to the story of how I met Agnes. I still remember sitting in between my parents in bed when they told me I was about to be a big sister. I knew even before she was born that she was going to be one of the greatest people to ever exist. I suggested we name her “Barbie” (and aren’t you glad mom and dad didn’t listen to me?), but even though the name didn’t stick, she is just as kind, caring, compassionate, and if anything more beautiful than Barbie herself. I am so thankful that God provided her with Angelo, a man who saw the same amazing qualities I knew she had from day one. I am so excited to be a part of their “start of something new” and look forward to continue going through all the stages of life together!

Best Man

I met Angelo at Berean the first week of Undergrad at UCI. I tried to avoid him at first because he was awkward, but now I can’t get him to stay.

Agnes and I met in our freshman year of college through Berean Community Church. I thought she didn’t like me because she sabotaged my hair when I asked her to dye it. I couldn’t forgive her for 2 years so we didn’t become friends until 2019. Since then, I’ve been blessed by many hang outs, silly jokes, intentional conversations, and opportunities to serve alongside her. I’m thankful for such a like minded sister who has on many occasions provoked me to love God & others more through pursuing greater humility and giving of my time. It sucks that she’s signing away the rest of her earthly life to be spent with a boy but I guess you win some you lose some. It was nice knowing ya. RIP Agnes Chan, welcome Agnes Zhu🫡

Angelo and I were enemies freshman year but now he's ok I guess.

Bridesmaid

I met Agnes at church and (kinda sorta) remember her first day at bible study. Fast forward to serving together in CCM Outreach Team as newer believers to serving together in Youth Group as older gals, we have witnessed each other go through pivotal life moments. She probably won't admit it, but she truly stretches and sharpens all those around her because she loves God and puts others first. I always joke and say that Agnes is so young and that I'm so old (even though we're half a year apart), but she is wise beyond her years and I have learned so much from her as she perseveres in faith. Can't forget though that Agnes is a wild one. Definitely many moments of cackling and crazy shared. Good luck Angelo! Just kidding, but I'm honored to walk alongside these two as they head towards the BIG DAY! They grow up so fast :')

I first met Angelo in my freshman year of college at Berean where we were placed in the same small group. My first impressions of him was that he was a serious guy but also just kinda awkward. But over the years Angelo has become many things to me, like: my baptism buddy, my League of Legends duo queue partner, my setter in volleyball, my informatics project group mate, my high cholesterol companion, my Super Smash Bros ultimate practice partner, and all in all a close brother of mine. I guess Agnes can hang with us but she better keep up.

Agnes and I did not like each other when we first met. Thankfully God knew we would be the best of friends and placed us in the same small group freshmen year and the rest is history! Though we are different in so many ways, I see how God uses her to grow me in Christlikeness through her servant-heartedness and sacrificial love for those around her. She makes me laugh (and cringe) like no other and is probably one of the silliest people I know. Although she was my bubby first, I guess Angelo is an acceptable person to take my place. Honored to be part of their big day!! :)

I was getting ready for volleyball practice and bumped into Angelo. Our first conversation started off with him asking, "do you play League?".

We both went many miles away from home to attend college and church in Irvine. God saved us both during our first year of college and re-shaped our desires and ambitions in life. Agnes was my first friend in college and first meetup 🥰 We got to know each other in various intentional and casual group settings and ended up serving in the same ministries, except for the praise team (because I’m almost as tone deaf as Angelo). I’ve been privileged to witness firsthand how Agnes serves and loves so faithfully and selflessly. Near the end of college, our college pastor preached on the characteristics of godly men and women and I immediately thought of Agnes. What a WOG. Angelo, you’re a lucky son of a gun.

My mom gave birth to what my dad thought was going to be a girl, but ended up being a guy.

Bridesmaid

I first met Agnes through CCM and Berean our freshman year at UCI, but we didn’t get super close until sophomore year when we went through similar …unfortunate circumstances and many Disneyland trips! Many college memories and meetups later, we were then roommates our first year out of college, and it was the biggest blessing and privilege getting to see her every day and hear about her and Angelo’s relationship as God was growing them both through it! I’m so honored to have been able to root for them since they first started dating (which Agnes couldn’t even say out loud for so long), and now be able to stand by their side on their wedding day 🥰

I thought I was getting a little sister named Angel but then Angelo showed up.
