Both Shelly and Angela are people in long term recovery from drugs for 3+ years! And that recovery is what brought them together. They met at an Narcotics Anonymous meeting and Angela was immediately drawn to Shelly! So was Naomi, Angela's daughter, as she crawled up to Shelly during a meeting one night. At one particular meeting, Angela shared about her bad luck with an impulsive car purchase that turned out to be a lemon and how she reluctantly purchased this sexy 1998 Pontiac Montana minivan that was this awful washed out shade of gray. After that meeting, Shelly approached Angela and commented on how the van wasn't THAT bad and Angela was super calm on the outside, but on the inside was like, "OMG, Shelly just talked to me!" Arriving home that night, Angela immediately got on Facebook and friend requested Shelly. That friend request was not immediately accepted and Angela was bit down in the dumps, but eventually Shelly accepted. They started chatting on Facebook and Angela invited Shelly to come hang out with her and Naomi. Angela also told her she would be making dinner that night! Shelly will say this was a trick as Angela is terrible in the kitchen. Angela will say it's irrelevant. When Shelly came over that night, June 23, 2017, dinner was ready but no power due to an outage in the area. No worries though, there was a spark between the them, surely having something to do with Angela's culinary skills. From that night on, the two had been inseparable, moving in with each other about a year later. Shelly was there with Angela for many of Naomi's milestones, such as taking her first steps, speaking her first words, potty training, and so many more. At one point, Naomi had started to call Shelly "daddy" because all she knew is that other than her mommy, Shelly was the other parent. December 23, 2018, Shelly made it official when she got down on one knee at Suntrust Park, proposing. After Angela said, "Shut the f**k up," in disbelief, she of course, said "YES!"
