It was a fairy tale meeting, straight out of Silicon Valley via a dating app called Bumble. After an intense Q&A regarding any potential dietary restrictions by Andy, Erin still somehow agreed to meet him for dinner. As their initial conversation continued long after the food and wine were finished, and the temperature creeped toward 19 degrees F outside the restaurant, Erin and Andy noticed the heat was no longer on and the few remaining staff were gathered impatiently at the bar. Andy suggested they find another place to continue the conversation. As they passed the next open bar, Erin saw the Patriots/Chiefs AFC conference championship game through the windows, and uttered the four words that may have sealed their fate: “Do you like football?”
After about six months of dating, Andy introduced his kids Milo and Serena to Erin at an upscale bowling alley (as upscale as those places can be). With the football compatibility checked off and the kid compatibility looking good, they ventured further on in the Journey. Their first family vacation was at the Nickelodeon Resort in Punta Cana, DR. After getting slimed together and experiencing family spa days and swim-up pools, they optimistically rang in 2020. Covid forced a snap-decision between Andy & Erin. "Uhh.. so are you moving in, like now?" Any plans of a well-crafted merger of two households were abandoned and four lives were forever changed overnight. After the initial shock wore off, miracles started happening: kids ate vegetables, Andy realized organization isn't a bad thing, and Erin tolerated Marvel Movies. Since things were going so well, why not add a dog... or two? Halfway thru Covid the family went from four to six with the introduction of Shadow and Spice. With their family solidified, they continued looking towards the future.
Everything came full circle for the engagement. It happened right before kick-off at Giant's Stadium where Andy's upstart Giants were hosting the juggernaut Eagles. The original plan was for Andy to ask Erin after the Eagles scored. In a panic, he worried what would happen if they didn't... so he popped the question right after the National Anthem. The Eagles scored a lot, the Giant's not so much, but Erin and Andy had the biggest score!
