We are so excited to share our story with all of you! For those of you who don’t know, the Carlson family and the Fana family have been acquaintances for many many years. In the year 2021, a group of friends got together in the Harris' home for a fun get-together that we called “Summerfest.” This was towards the end of COVID-19 and because of this, the entire party was held outside. As the rain began that Saturday evening, we had to run inside the house and had a group of forty people in the living room. The plan had been to play games outside, but the hosts thought it would be wiser to cut the party short. I was a bit disappointed because I absolutely love to play games and Andrew felt the same way. After that, he told a couple of people to just come over to his house, since it was still early and he was looking forward to playing games. It was a small group that included my sisters and I, but we spent that night hanging out and playing many fun games. The next evening, the same group was sitting at church and Andrew said that that game night was so much fun that we should definitely do it again. He passed his phone around and got everyone’s number and that is how we began to talk. As the months continued to pass, we began a friendship that later became something more. We began to talk more and more each and every day and after a couple of months of talking, we went on our first date. A short while after that, we began dating, developed a relationship, and fell in love with one another. About two years of dating later, Andrew proposed. It was a beautiful Thursday afternoon. Every Thursday that summer, Andrew and I would go on special adventures where he would plan full days of surprises where we traveled to nearby states. I believed that this Thursday was going to be just like the others. I asked Andrew the night before what I should wear, he would usually tell me since most days he would leave the events of the day as a surprise. He told me that we should begin to dress a little nicer so that when he does propose eventually, I wouldn't be suspicious. That Thursday, Andrew got to my house, picked me up, and we were on our way. I asked him where we were going and he said it was a surprise. During our car ride, he kept telling me many things to distract me from the plans for the evening. He also told me that he had a surprise for me and that I better say yes to the surprise otherwise it would "ruin his life." Now, at that moment, anyone would have probably taken that as a hint, but since that was something that I had heard from him before, I was not suspicious at all. Two hours later, we arrived at one of the most beautiful parks I had ever seen. The sun was shining brightly, the grass smelled freshly clipped, and the birds were chirping peacefully in the trees. We got out of the car and began to walk hand in hand all around the park. After some time walking, taking pictures, and talking, we stopped near the pond, past a bridge and he pulled something out from the backpack he was wearing. It was a drone! I was instantly a bit nervous because I realized that this was the “surprise” that he had mentioned in the car. I was nervous to fly the drone all around the park, near the large pond that was next to us, and told Andrew that I didn't want to fly it. He then reminded me that I had promised to say yes to the surprise and I tentatively took the remote control. As I flew the drone, I was extremely focused and didn't think too much of it when he told me to lower the drone and angle it specifically pointing towards where we were. In my mind, I believed that we were going to take a picture and was staring at the remote control when Andrew turned, fell to one knee, and proposed! I was absolutely shocked! Now, we are incredibly happy and are looking forward to a lifetime of love and joy together in marriage. This has been the most amazing journey of our lives and we cannot wait for our wedding day!
