Andrew and I met through work, at University Hots. However, we did not become close until my dog, Rusty, passed away. I came into work because my friend was working and I needed consoling. Andrew sat with me and asked what was wrong. I explained to him that my dog died. He then asked if I wanted to hang out and watch sad movies and pretend to cry about the movies while we really cry about my dog passing. The next day Andy brought his dog Jack to meet me, and I was so surprised by such a gracious act I couldn't say no to going on a date. Our wedding day will be on Jack's 9th birthday.
It was the day after my last final. I wanted to go to Stony Brook for a hike with the dogs. When we got to Stony Brook the part we wanted to hike was closed. On the way to another trail there was a bridge over a stream of water. I asked if he would take a picture of us on the bridge. He told me, "Of course, I'll grab it on the way back." So we started hiking. About half way through we heard thunder and turned back. When we were almost back it started to sprinkle. As we reached the bridge the rain was coming down so hard I couldn't see a foot ahead of me. Andy still insisted on taking my picture with the dogs and was fumbling around in his pockets for what I thought was his phone. I looked down for a moment to readjust the dogs for the picture and when I looked back up Andrew was on one knee holding out a ring. Of course the rain didn't matter at that point, and I was so happy. I said yes and kissed him. Rain means new beginnings and I'm so excited to start this new adventure.
