Surprise, surprise…we met at an Atlanta United watch party. Tricia and I decided to mix things up a bit and get out of our bubble. We headed down to Decatur to join Footie Mob to cheer on our boys for the match against Toronto. At the beginning of the match (little did I know), I was sitting next to one of Trey’s good buddies, Eric. Turned out, Eric and I had mutual friends and a group of folks gather around us to watch the game. One that joined that group was Trey. Eventually, Trey commandeered Eric’s seat, sidled up next to me, and told me I was cute. A girl from Marietta and a boy from Roswell landed in Decatur to support a team we both love and the rest is history.
Trey and I flew out to Arizona to spend Thanksgiving with my brother, Adam. Not only was I excited for Trey and Adam to finally meet, but Jerome is my happy place, and I couldn’t wait for Trey to experience that with me. On our last night there, the three of us climbed out Adam’s back door to the highest street in Jerome to watch the Super Moon (the beaver moon) rise over the red rocks of Sedona. Adam stepped away, leaving Trey and me to enjoy the moment together. Before I knew it, Trey was down on one knee saying “this is the part when you start crying” and I was right on cue. The moment was perfect: my happy place, a beautiful backdrop, my brother nearby to celebrate with us, and my person I would say yes to a thousand times.
