Our Story

Nick and Amy met when in High School at Olathe Northwest. Amy remembers meeting Nick freshman year in a study hall when he was talking with a mutual friend. Nick remembers meeting Amy sophomore year. Amy and Nick were both in the Aerospace and Engineering Program in High School. It wasn't until Junior year of High School Nick tried asking Amy out. Small attempts that flew completely over Amy's head such as asking to go to laser tag instead of the homecoming dance with a mutual group of friends. Finally, with the help of Nick's friend Spencer, he finally got the chance to hang out with Amy out of school by going to a movie, again with a mutual group of friends. And the movie, was Breaking Dawn Part 2. Nick finally asked Amy out the first time after seeing the remake of Red Dawn with the same group of friends a few weeks later. Which was a complete shock to Amy that Nick even liked her. After about 2 months of texting, they finally went on their first date, ice skating in Town Center. The rest is history. Amy and Nick dated the rest of high school and into college where they both went to Kansas State University.

The Yes Moment

In the Beginning of October 2019, Nick temporalily moved to North Carolina to work for the rest of the year. He was able to work from Kansas City one week each month while he was there. When he came back to Kansas City on October 22nd, his mom picked him up from the airport and drove to pick up the ring he had been working on for a while. That evening, after Amy was done with work, Nick and Amy went out to eat dinner at J. Gilberts. Nick was trying to figure out the perfect time to propose that evening. First thinking of proposing at Amy's house before dinner. Then he thought of taking a walk after dinner around Town Center. They ended up going to Nick's house after dinner. There Nick really wanted to go for a walk after dinner even though it was freezing outside. They barely walked far from his house when he said to turn back because it was cold outside. But instead of going through the front door, he wanted to go through the backyard. Now backtracking for a second, Nick had also been asking Amy's opinion on ring designs for a while, which she never wanted to give, preferring him to pick something he thought she would like on his own. So of course that night was no different. Nick saying multiple times throughout the evening he wanted her opinion on some ring ideas. Back to the proposal, On the walk to the backyard, Nick said he just wanted to show one last ring design to get Amy's opinion, which Amy finally said she would look. That was when he pulled out a ring and got down on one knee to ask her. And of course, Amy said yes.
