How We Met

Happily Ever After Begins Here

We met at a close friend's house warming party. We had some mutual friends, most of you know them actually. Well Barclay said that night that he would never date another girl from south GA, then he proceeds to sit down on the couch next to me. The first thing that came out of my mouth was "Hey y'all, how y'all doin?" It was hilarious! He knew he was doomed because he had taken quite the interest in me. It was also wild that we never met at UGA, we were there at the exact same time and had many mutual friends. I think it was destiny for sure, God wanted us to meet in His perfect timing. Once the house festivities were over, we made our way out to Buckhead. He followed me around everywhere, and I was trying to lose him because I wasn't interested in dating at the time. So naturally I told my girlfriends to help me ditch him. We did! The very next day he found me on Facebook and messaged me saying "hey you left last night before I got a chance to get your number." I about died, he was so persistent. After a few exchanges I gave in and told him my number. He then starts texting me immediately. He asked me to give him one date, and have I told you yet that this man is persistent? I agreed to a date where we met at Pure Taqueria, and we had the best conversation. He had me rolling in laughter and tears of joy that night. Our perfect first date night was on May 29, 2018, and we have been together ever since. I couldn't be happier that I said yes to that date 4 years ago.

The Proposal

And so the next chapter begins...

I wasn't feeling myself on this rainy Friday evening, but I was excited that our two best friends, Will and John were coming. Barclay told me to get ready for a nice Christmas party at a co-worker's house, so I put on my brand new snake skin skirt and a bright red sweater. I felt so pretty, and these boys made me feel even more beautiful when they saw me walk out. Will, John, Barclay and myself headed out to this "party." Will is our Instagram King of the friend group, and since he was visiting from D.C. he asked if we could stop on the Jackson Street Bridge to get a picture for the Gram. I didn't think anything of it at all, so we made a pit stop, and it was on the way! We got some photos of Will and John, and then they asked if Barclay and I wanted a picture. Well duh, I felt extra cute that night! As we are prepping to take the photo, Barclay pulled his car keys out of his pocket to hand them to Will, and his "lucky" coin fell out (he takes this thing everywhere). Again I thought nothing of it when he bent down to retrieve it. However, he didn't come back up. I have no idea what he said, but when it clicked I just said YES! From there, we met up with our parents, other close friends and family at the Botanical Gardens for a stroll to see the lights. It was truly magical! Then the surprises continued when we headed out to Ecco in Buckhead for a surprise Formal Engagement party where even more friends were waiting. Barclay had rented out the outdoor patio event area, and there was champagne waiting for all! We celebrated all night with our best people, and we ate some of the best food from a pre-set menu that Barclay selected himself. I seriously felt like I was living in a dream, and the two of us were truly glowing all night. I couldn't have planned this perfect night better myself, and I can't wait to be Mrs. Mitchell.
