Once upon a 2012, Andrei went to an Underwater Hockey Tournament. There he met the fun, bubbly, full of life tournament organizer and the culprit for his stinky fridge, Amy. A few days prior Amy delegated boxes of celery to a Russian player’s refrigerator in preparations for the tournament, which ended up stinking it up for weeks! What a way to leave a first impression… But all Amy remembers is that some guy bought her (and Brigit) a round of shots after the tournament. And the rest is history. As they continued to play hockey in SF they became more acquainted. The tight-knit hockey community brought them closer as they spent many weekends on adventures. As Andrei caught 'maple fever', Amy yet continued to hold out on starting a relationship. It wasn't until after a trip to Hawaii in the fall of 2015 that Andrei’s charm persuaded Amy that they belonged together. Amy's favorite number is 5, and Andrei is a number nerd, so the first date, of course, had to be divisible by 5. 05/10/15 was a great choice! Their first date was at Cha Cha Cha, a fun Caribbean tapas style joint in the Haight-Ashbury - where sangria runs as freely as birthday suits at Bay to Breakers. Andrei brought flowers, but the jury is still out who picked up the tab. They both suffer from adventure activity ADHD. The abbreviated list goes something like this: hiking, kayaking, camping, free-diving, spearfishing, skiing, foraging, making jam and tasty libations. A hobby list so long that a normal closet no longer fits all their toys, a separate storage unit, now dubbed “the adventure closet” had to be purchased. Amy and Andrei enjoy spending each weekend indulging in adventures together. After dating for two years they finally moved in together in the fall of 2017. It was an easy transition as they were already spending most of their time together. Amy has slowly upgraded the bachelor pad to be their little home. Finally, in the summer of 2019, Andrei asked and Amy - well she said YES!!
