We have decided to start our lives together with a romantic and intimate wedding ceremony in Blevio, Italy with just our immediate family. This ceremony will be taking place on a beautiful Italian terrace overlooking Lake Como. After we return from Italy, we will celebrate in Asheville with all of our loved ones at our reception at East West Venue. We can't wait to see you all and celebrate together!
In early January 2016, Boone had a terrible snowstorm that canceled classes at Appalachian State for a few days. Amelia's neighbor, and Grants friend, decided to take advantage of the missed classes and throw a party. Grant didn't know many people at the party but was determined to go (because what else was he going to do?) so he walked 2 miles through frozen Boone, in a blizzard, to make it to Straight Street. They met for the very first time playing games at the party. Amelia thought Grant was very cute but couldn't quite figure him out and decided to let him make the first move. Grant was immediately smitten by Amelia and intimidated by how cool he thought she was. After nervously flirting with Amelia all night and several drinks, Grant decided to make the first move by jumping off her balcony into a 10' tall snow bank. Amelia, being ever cautious (some would say reasonable) saw Grant about to jump off the porch and told him "If you jump, I won't give you my number!" and Grant, being stubborn, itching to impress her and having a feeling he would get her number anyway, jumped. Grant was obviously right, but it did take a few more weeks of nervous Grant staring at her from afar before they had their first, official date. Grant likes to say that he walked 2 miles through a blizzard to meet Amelia that night.
Our second date is one that we often look back to as the date we, unknowingly, fell in love. It was originally just grabbing some lunch and going on a hike in the Appalachian mountains but at every moment during the date, we found a new way to stay together. After the date had stretched on for more than 12 hours Grant finally left Amelia's house. While we didn't have any set plans to see each other the next day, we both knew we would. And we saw each other every day until Amelia moved to Asheville 6 months later and we did long distance for a year. We fit into each other's lives so seamlessly it's hard to remember a time when we were ever apart. It feels like we've been on that second date for the last seven years.
