In 1987, we met at a youth group. The friendship led us to go to the Sadie Hawkins dance. I believe I scared Scott a little because he thought I wanted to date him but to be honest, I think he wanted to date me. He was very shy and I was very outgoing. After High School, we both moved away and lost connection. 35 years later here we are! We reconnected on Facebook after Scott reached out to ask a simple question. During the conversation, I asked if he had any single friends he could introduce me to; he thought I was trying to pick up on him but once again, it was him picking up on me. Can you believe he ghosted me for a bit! After months of talking on the phone, Scott came out to California to visit me and that’s pretty much when we both thought, "Okay, this could be something." It turns out I really was the one who was eager to date him after all of these years and here we are now about to start our lives together as husband and wife!

Scott and the kids came for a visit, and we vacationed at Bass Lake. One night, Scott planned a date night for us. I wanted to postpone it to another night because there were family and friends at the lake house. While we were at dinner, the kids and our mothers set up a romantic setting (SCOTT'S idea). When we returned from dinner, Scott, knowing I would flip out about my dog Charlie getting out of the house, told me he just saw Charlie run to the next-door neighbor’s house. I was not surprised. However, what was a surprise is when he did finally get me next door, (which I did not make it easy for him) I saw rose petals on the ground leading the way towards the back deck overlooking Bass Lake. Looking towards the lake, I saw an illuminated sign below us which read “will you marry me”, Scott was down on one knee asking me to be his wife. I took a second to take it all in and then shouted "YES," and now here we are engaged and getting married in 3 months. We look forward to seeing those who can join us in Wilmington NC in November. We understand it’s short notice and not that easy to jump on a plane and be here. For those who cannot make it to Wilmington; we are going to have another celebration in Spring of 2024. We anticipate to be back in March/April to Fresno to celebrate with friends and family. Keep your eyes and ears open for more details.
