Amber and Kavaris met in college! They were in a couple of campus organizations together but didn't connect right away. Both graduated undergrad, went to grad school and eventually began their careers. It wasn't until Amber settled in Atlanta for grad school and Kavaris accepted a position with TSU in Houston, that the two would meet again. Kavaris messaged Amber and provided his phone number via Instagram in 2016. The now couple kept in contact on and off throughout the year, but never got the chance to meet in person. In 2017, Kavaris was returning back to Houston after traveling to Florida with his Texas Southern students for a football game. Due to Hurricane Harvey, the trip back to Houston was delayed resulting in Kavaris and his students making a pit stop in Atlanta for a week. It was then that Amber and Kavaris would finally get a chance to hang out with each other! Kavaris reached out to Amber with plans to have a drink at the Joystick Gamebar on Edgewood Avenue. The two hung out and immediately hit it off! From there, Amber and Kavaris made many trips alternating between Atlanta and Houston to see one another. In 2019, the couple decided to take their relationship to the next level. Kavaris flew to Atlanta in July 19', helped Amber pack up her apartment and loaded the U-Haul truck for the long drive back to Oklahoma. The rest is history!
