It was a very warm (too warm) April day in Westlake, TX where both Jacob and Amber were starting the first day of their new careers, and although it was not yet known, their new lives as well. Amber, dressed to the nine's in a full power suit but was not ready to socialize with anyone. Jacob sees Amber for the first time in a lobby full of bright eyed new hires prior to being led into their classroom. Nervous, but curious, Jacob improvises on how to strike up a conversation with Amber. He walks over to her and mumbles the first thing she still recalls to this day. "Is that hummus?" Over the next three months, what started as an innocent friendship blossomed into something much more beautiful.
Three months after meeting in their Fidelity training class, Jacob and Amber were having a normal work day until tornado sirens sent panic across the entire floor. Managers and team leaders were instructing everyone to disconnect from their clients and move quickly to the stairwell. In a matter of minutes, hundreds of associates were crammed in the stairwell connecting all four floors like cans of sardines. The storm frightened Amber who was worried about her cats home alone so she frantically searched the stairwell looking for the person who could calm her down and make her feel safe. After pushing through what felt like endless crowds of people, Amber finally sees him. Jacob was standing in a corner away from the crowds with his relaxed posture and kind smile. Amber is immediately comforted by Jacob which then made him realize just how much she cared about him, and how much he cared for her. They both knew from that day on that they had something special.
Months of preparation had been in the works to disguise a proposal into what seemed like an extravagant anniversary celebration. Reservations had been set, the ring had been purchased, and ALL off the wool had been pulled over Amber's eyes. The plans provided to Amber explained that following a nice dinner at The Charles in Dallas, they would be staying in a tiny cabin (two things Amber loves) Airbnb before boarding flights to Colorado the next day for a short trip. They pull into the valet at The Charles in their red chariot and walk into the most beautiful restaurant that Amber has ever seen. They enjoy delicious food and wine before heading to their cabin. Navigating together, they soon drive into a small driveway next to a colorful retro style camper where they see a man with a camera taking photos of a girl in front of it. Without a second thought Amber began walking up to their cabin next door as Jacob gestured on. As she places her hand on the door to open she hears a familiar voice call her name. She turns around to see Jacob reaching to take her hands as he begins dropping to his knee and the photographer standing just down from the porch. Amber's eyes fill with tears while beautiful, kind, and loving words leave Jacob's lips. He then presents the ring as she says "yes of course!" to spending her life with him.
