Ten Years of History

First comes high school, college, traveling the world, long distance, moving in, a dog turned angel, and 10 years later, marriage.

Our story does not start with a 90s style boy likes girl plot. It starts at Gulliver Prep, at the then shiny new student union. Even though we likely met in passing before, this is our first shared memory of each other, during IB orientation. Ironically, we did not have any classes together until Amaya switched into Michael's math class where we both struggled mightily. After simultaneously begging Mr. Thompson to improve our grades, our IB-lite friendship began. This was in 2013, and despite two BAs, a MBA, and a JD later, our math skills have not improved. Senior year brought many Chipotle runs, the casual getty, Ultra Music Festival, and eventually realizing we'd be attending the same college. Go 'Bos. And while we will not go into any detail about our first kiss at prom after-party here, that was the night our love story began. Much to our surprise (and Amaya's dad's dismay), Tufts assigned us to the same dorm, only one floor apart. Needless to say, we've been inseparable ever since (long distance aside). Sophomore year, we moved into Greek housing on the same street and Junior Year, Michael became the honorary 6th member of 30 Packard. While the universe dealt us challenges and tragedies, our relationship continued to grow. Whether it was late night Chopped sessions, or Sunday morning waffles at Dewick, we were never apart. Very quickly, Michael discovered he shared Amaya's passion for travel. After accompanying Amaya on multiple family vacations, they began to explore the world on their own. Fourteen countries and countless memorable meals (and pictures) later, they're always planning their next move. Ten years have not passed by without their fair share of hardships. Several unexpected losses shattered our lives as we knew them, and multiple stints of long distance felt like they'd never end, but our love for each other never changed. Now, we live in New York. With the very little free time we have, we enjoy fine dining, tapas, endless cuddles, chirping Knicks/Nets fans whenever the Heat are in town, maximizing our credit card points, and sharing the juiciest chisme from our lives.
