We met just as most millennials do these days--online. Our first date was at a bowling alley with instant attraction from the moment we said a shyish hello. Then one awkward date led to two, which led to a true summer romance involving late nights by the pool, talking until the orange sunrise, a spontaneous trip into Estes Park where Bradley glimpsed at Ashley walking along the creek and fell in love, a paint fight and picnic at the reservoir where Ashley is convinced he said I love you for the first time after three weeks, a moment in the car outside her house where Bradley knows is the real time he awkwardly said I love you, and many more rose-tinted nights filled with Ashley talking and Bradley "listening". He's known from the beginning that he wanted to marry her, but one love-filled year became three before Bradley finally popped the question on Christmas day, and we hope those years keep piling on as we take this giant leap forward with all of you!
After the presents were opened and the Christmas dinner was put away, we went to a nearby shopping center with the family to do some ice skating--despite the fact that Ashley does NOT skate, as both her mother and Ashley herself clearly warned to Bradley, who didn't realize the weight of those words. Yet, being in the Christmas spirit, she agreed to clutch the railings as she shimmied forward, screaming petrified nonsense into the chilly air until Bradley got the nerve to remove her hands from the barriers and move his babbling girlfriend to the middle of the rink in what he hoped would be a cute moment. She was not making that a reality as she screamed, "I'm going to die! This is the worst day ever!", gripping his hands with true, frightened force, determined not to fall. Bradley then fell onto one knee, literally, and began his speech with her sisters nearby and her dad scooting along the ice in sneakers with the camera on. "Are you proposing?!", she said, finally realizing there must be a reason he would dare lead her away from safety. She eventually said yes with tears welling in her eyes--either from being terrified of skating or the proposal--an applause from the surrounding couples, and a ring that was a few sizes too small.
