Duke Gardens is a large, beautiful garden attraction with a variety of plants, paths, and open areas. Great for a walk or a picnic!
The North Carolina Museum of Art is a free state-run art museum with a variety of exhibits.
The American Tobacco Trail is a long-running trail that has quite a few entrances and covers many miles. There are a variety of entrances scattered about, check their website using the button below for more details, or look it up directly on Google Maps and follow the green trail line that shows up.
The Eno River State Park is a great hiking spot with a variety of trails and entrances (this entrance is just one of the more expansive and popular). This was where we went on our third date! (Though not at this entrance.)
If you want more BBQ than you're getting at the wedding, you can stop by Picnic (it's a restaurant) after your hike at the Eno ;)
Maple View Farms Ice Cream is a cheap farm-run ice cream shop that's well-known and well-loved in this area. It's out of the way, but well-worth the drive. Our personal favorite is their Butter Pecan, which we tend to buy by the half-gallon each time we visit! It's great to watch the sunset on their lawn, so bring a chair (but keep in mind that since it's extremely popular in the summer months, there is almost certainly going to be a long line).
Monuts is an excellent local breakfast shop with incredible donuts and breakfast sandwiches. It gets busy fast, so plan accordingly!
The Museum of Life and Science is Brenden's personal favorite museum in the triangle. It has great hands-on exhibits and is fun for all ages.
Another great museum, but in Raleigh instead of Durham. This one is much more focused on biological science than the Life & Science in Durham.
An excellent burger shop, and the site of our very first date!
Hutchin's Garage is an awesome local pizza shop, the site of our second date, and just so happens to be directly across the street from our reception venue, The Pit.
If you're in the mood for some upscale Indian cuisine, Viceroy has you covered! We went here for Amanda's 32nd birthday dinner.
MGG is a little hole-in-the-wall grill and grocery with a small but awesome menu. Brenden's favorite is the chicken shwarma, Amanda's is the veggie pita, and we both adore the hummus!
Great place to catch a baseball game!
Very cute and very tasty bake shop!
Amanda's favorite coffee shop! A place where many papers have been graded, and also many great coffees have been drunk!
Brenden's favorite Chick-fil-A ;)
