Guests should plan to fly into the St. Thomas Airport (US Virgin Islands) Cyril E. King Airport (STT) located at Airport Rd, Charlotte Amalie West, St Thomas 00802, USVI. TIP: Passports are not required for travel for US citizens There are 2 ferry options to get to Cruz Bay/St. John from the St. Thomas Airport.
Travel Note
Ferry - Crown Bay Marina - this is located 5 minutes from the airport. The ferry departs daily at 3:30pm and 5:30pm arriving to Cruz Bay St. John and is a 35 minute ferry ride. The ferry also runs at 9:45am and 2:15pm on weekends. One way is $20 per person and one free personal item is included. Luggage tags which are $5 each will be required for additional luggage up to 50 pounds. You can book in advance online.
Travel Note
Ferry- Red Hook Marina - located on the East End (Red Hook) of St. Thomas. Taxis/vans will be available to drive you from the airport to the Red Hook Ferry Terminal. Taxis are generally $15 per person, plus $2 per bag. This is a longer drive from the airport (30 minutes) but a ferry departs every hour (last ferry to Cruz Bay/St. John leaves at 11:30pm). It is a 20 minute ferry ride. (One way $8.15 per person + $4 bag fee). Ferry tickets from Red Hook to Cruz Bay can be booked online in advance, or at the respective ferry docks.
Travel Note
If you are staying on St. Thomas or choose to rent a car on St. Thomas, you will need to take the car ferry located at Red Hook Marina to get to St. John. Visit www.bigredbarge.co for information and ferry schedule (less frequent departure options than a people ferry). MANY ST. THOMAS CARS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO TRAVEL ON TO ST. JOHN. Before booking, make sure you ask the rental car company if the car can be taken off island to St. John.
