As we enter into this new phase as husband and wife, we are believing God to use us to minister to others through our marriage. "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." ~1 Corinthians 13:13

Our Beginning

Becoming Obaro

After a couple of months of being invited to church by her sister and brother-in-law, Amanda finally decided to take a trip to Kingston on Sunday, August 16, 2020. Amanda saw Ovié for the first time doing what he loves, worshipping God through music. Thinking nothing of each other, they did not speak. Two weeks later, Amanda visited again, and Ovié approached her to introduce himself, though done with great hesitation. The two made plans to go to the Cheesecake Factory with Kolaiah and Tyrone. By September 20, 2020, Ovié and Amanda exchanged numbers, intending to go bowling together, and have been in communication ever since! Through their mutual love for God and music, as they began to learn more about each other, their interest in one another increased. On October 12, 2020, they decided to take a trip to Danbury Mall, where Ovié assisted in the making of Amanda's first build-a-bear (she's always wanted one). As a friend, she loved that he listened and cared enough about her to make her dream of creating her very own bear a reality. On October 24, 2020, Ovié and Amanda went on their first date to Double O Grill. Here, they discussed their personal desires and life experiences. Afterward, they walked around Quiet Cove Park, where Amanda made a Snapchat video introducing him to her “snap fam.” November 20, 2020, would halt their in-person time together as Ovié contracted COVID. But, during this time of separation, distance indeed made their hearts grow fonder. The two would FaceTime each other every day, having heartfelt discussions, uplifting one another, and sharing jokes. After a long month of not seeing each other, on December 23, 2020, Ovié asked Amanda to be exclusive. After nearly three years of getting to know each other and, more importantly, growing in love and faith together, on October 26, 2023, at Quiet Cove Park (yes, the place from date #1) with great intention and care, Ovié asked Amanda to be his wife, to which she excitedly answered "Yes!"
