How We Met

The story can be told two different ways. Matt's version is that he was playing "hard to get" where Amanda's version is that Matt was just plain oblivious. Either way, the story goes something like this. It was the first day of school in September 2017 and Matt was the new teacher at Mount Morris. Needless to say, Amanda thought he was cute so decided to reach out to him. She asked him if he wanted to go get a drink sometime and his response was, "I mean I guess." This is where the story differs between the two but the ending is still the same. The two instantly clicked, becoming the gossip of the school (still two years later too) & the rest is history.

The Engagement

Amanda has some suspicions but they were totally thrown off when the proposal actually came. Ever since Amanda and Matt were young, the Adirondacks had been such an important place to both of them. Their families had gone up there every year, ironically close by, every summer. So needless to say, the sight of the proposal in the Adirondacks was perfect. It was the morning of their last day up there with Amanda's family and they had just gotten back from a hike. Amanda wanted to take a nap (a normal thing) but Matt asked her if she would go help him flip the kayaks over down on the dock real quick. They went down, Amanda clearly tired was so fixated on getting back inside to nap she was clueless (Matt says she ruined it LOL). When she started walking back up to the cottage Matt said her name and when she turned around he was standing there with the ring. She obviously & happily said yes. :)

For all the days along the way
