Querétaro Intl Airport (QRO) Leon/Guanajuato Airport (BJX) + Juarez/Mexico City Intl Airport (MEX)
Querétaro Airport (QRO) is your closest airport to San Miguel Allende, followed by a 1 hr drive into town. Next would be Leon/Guanajuato Airport, which is the preferred airport for travelers. Approximately 1.5 hr drive from the airport into the city. Lastly, there is the option of flying into the Juarez/Mexico City International Airport (MEX). This is also great if you want to spend a day or two in Mexico City before traveling into San Miguel Allende. From (MEX) to SMA it is about a 4 hr drive. If you’re with a group you may prefer to have a private driver from Mexico City to San Miguel de Allende, which we are more than happy to assist with and have added a link for recommendations. For those traveling solo, one of the most popular options is to take a luxury bus directly into town. No matter what you choose, please plan for a full travel day as most flights to SMA have a layover in addition to a drive to town. We recommend you arriving before dark as it makes it a lot easier to navigate and allows for more options with the shuttles/buses/drivers into town. Ideal travel would be Wednesday or Thursday to arrive in time to attend all festivities!
