Matron of Honor
If you asked anyone who knows them both, Alyssa is known as "Lydia Barrett's little sister". And if you thought Alyssa was the athlete of the family, you haven't met Lyd. What Lydia lacks in height, she makes up for in strength. She's the smart, hardworking, "goody-two-shoes" of the family. She is also the mother to Alyssa's two beautiful nieces and flower girls.
Best Man
You read that right, his name is Bernard Burns (the Third!). And he is as unique as his name. Stu and Bernie met playing soccer in Chicago for a rag-tag team called Arlington Aces. Stu quickly ruptured his ACL and couldn't play but managed to stay connected with Bernie. Bernie and Stuart are always up to something new, interesting, and often random as heck.
Bridesmaid
Shelby is Alyssa's best friend from college at Slippery Rock University where they both played on the University's soccer team. From the first day of preseason, an instant connection was formed. For all 4 years, it was "Alyssa and Shelby", never just one of them. That included when they were roommates and both slept through 6am conditioning workouts. They are kindred spirits, for better or worse.
Groomsman
Similar to Bernie, Stu met Ian on the field playing for the Aces. Ian was one of the first people on the team to welcome Stu in and invite him to their social gatherings. Ian is a New Orleans native who followed his love (Sarah) to Chicago following the Hurricane Katrina disaster. Ian and Sarah made Chicago home for 10+ years, adding twins Theo and Kellen to their family in 2014. One of Alyssa's favorite past times is trying to tell them apart.
Bridesmaid
Jean has been one of Alyssa's best friends since Scribner Road Elementary. They became their closest in high school and have only grown closer ever since. Jeanie regularly opens up her home to Alyssa, Stu, their dog Lilly, and any and everyone who would like to join. You'll likely find her on the wedding day running around trying to make everything perfect.
Groomsman
Predictably, Matt was also a member of Arlington Aces way back in 2011. During Stu's first match with the Aces it became apparent that Matt was more interested in slide tackling and crunching ankles than playing pretty soccer. Matt's colorful character stems from his Brazilian heritage, hailing from Porto Alegre; he's a die-hard Gremio fan as well as bass guitarist for your favorite Oi group, Fuerza Bruta.
Bridesmaid
Katie is Stu's younger sister, and middle child of the Barlow kids and she is the mother of the handsome ring bearer, Harrison. Like all the Barlows, Katie has an adventurous spirit and has also lived in America working for Disney in Disney World as well as on the Disney Cruise Lines. She loves staying active and often participates in local park runs.
Groomsman
David is Stu's younger brother, colleague and chief tormentor. Set these two off and you'll struggle to catch a word once the 'Boro accent kicks in. Like his big bro, David is a soccer coach and spends his time on the fields of Illinois shouting at young children to do better and try harder. David followed in Stu's footsteps and emigrated to the USA where he settled close to Stu and Alyssa with his wonderful wife Margaret and two fur babies Ronald and Dobbie.
Officiant
Greg is Stu and Alyssa's good friend from Chicago. Greg is the...manager?...captain?...old guy? of the co-ed recreational soccer team that Stu and Alyssa both play on and is actually also how they met. Greg has been around for Stu and Alyssa's entire relationship and knows them as a couple better than anyone. He was there when they met, he's been there for all the birthdays/parties/random Saturday patio beers, and he's now the officiant of their wedding! He will respond to "Meatball" or "The Rizzler", whichever you prefer.
