We're Getting Married!

Nick and I met on a Friday in February 2015, at approximately 3:00am. We were at a "late night" bar in downtown Chicago, where we were both entertaining friends. Timing was on our side, and I happened to walk up to the side of the bar where Nick was sitting and proclaimed to my friends, "I just want a glass of wine!" Nick boldly swooped in, pointing out, as he now puts it, "the least terrible option" on the wine list. Little did I know, I was in the presence of a true wine professional! I accepted the drink recommendation, and we immediately fell into a very easy conversation that ended with Nick asking for my number (and nearly losing it after he forgot to save it in his phone!). Our first date was several weeks later, where we had considerably better wine, and we talked about everything from our jobs, to our families, to our mutual love of baseball. The past four years have been filled with more laughs and love than I ever would have imagined at 3am on a cold February night, and we are both looking forward to many more years and countless laughs to come.

It was a beautiful summer day in Chicago, and Nick and I planned to have some pictures taken by his younger brother, Emerson. We walked over to Museum Campus, which isn't far from our apartment, and Emerson started expertly suggesting ideal places for portraits. After about 30 minutes, and with the skyline in the background, Nick brought me up onto a hill, and got down on one knee! I was so surprised, and absolutely delighted that Emerson was there to capture it all on camera. It was the perfect moment, and we even got some applause from others who witnessed the event. After we made it back home, we kicked off a perfect impromptu evening of celebrations with family, friends, and of course...champagne! It was the perfect day!

We are getting married at the beautiful Chez Event Venue in downtown Chicago. The ceremony starts at 5:30, with cocktails, dinner and dancing immediately to follow.
