Our love story begins like many others in today's society... with a dating app. However, it wasn't your classic Tinder or Hinge - we met on Jswipe. For those of you who may not be familiar, Jswipe is a dating app for Jewish people. David, having had a bar mitzvah and a classically overbearing Jewish mother, felt that Jswipe could be a great way to find someone who understands his many quirks. Alyssa had just returned from Birthright in Israel and, much to the delight of those who created Birthright, decided to give Jswipe a try. We hit it off right away, with the first date spent discussing dogs, reality TV, and our shared hometown of San Diego. The connection was solidified when David met Luna for the first time and she immediately sat on his lap (not Luna's typical reaction to new people). It was truly love at first sit for Luna and if you know Alyssa, that was all the confirmation she needed!
It all started a month earlier - David had the original proposal planned and told everyone about it. He tested positive for Covid the morning of, however, and some adjustments needed to be made. A month later, David arranged for Alyssa's friends to take her to brunch in La Jolla (Alyssa's first suspicion because neither of them lived near there). Once they arrived at the restaurant, Alyssa was told that there was a long wait and that they needed to go for a walk to kill time. Despite there clearly not being much of a wait, she obliged and walked down towards La Jolla Shores. Little did she know (she definitely knew), David was waiting with Luna and Ollie, ready to propose. David proposed as the dogs celebrated, and the secret photographer popped out to capture the moment. It's not easy to surprise a woman who is naturally curious, notices everything, and has you on FindMyFriends, but he did the best he could!
