Flight

Dublin International Airport (dub)

We recommend guests to fly into Dublin Airport (DUB). Upon arrival, you can easily catch a taxi for convenient transportation to the city center, with fares typically ranging from 25-30 euros. In Ireland, they use an app called "FREENOW" for taxi bookings, offering instant or scheduled rides. This app can be downloaded via your app store for both Android and iPhone users. While taxis are available at the airport, it's wise to download the app before your trip for seamless transportation throughout your time in Ireland.

Hotel

Airbnb or Hotel Options

For those arriving in Dublin a few days before the wedding, check out our lodging recommendations below. Please be aware that from March 20th-22nd, we have cottages blocked at Belle Isle Castle for our wedding guests to stay right on the Castles' estate, details below. Saint Patrick's Day falls on Monday, March 17th, 2025, offering a fantastic opportunity to extend your trip and immerse yourself in the vibrant cultural celebration (optional). Feel free to join the festivities, and don't forget to pack your green attire for an unforgettable St. Patrick's Day experience in Dublin! Regrettably, due to the overlapping Saint Patrick's Day festivities, hotel blocks are not available. However, you still have several options for accommodations. Consider booking hotels such as Hilton Dublin, Clontarf Castle Hotel, or Hotel Riu Plaza The Gresham Dublin. Alternatively, you can explore Airbnb options for the best rates during this busy period. It's advisable to secure your accommodations at your earliest convenience to ensure availability. Additionally, please note that the bride and groom will be staying at an Airbnb from March 15th to the 20th near the city centre, should you wish to stay nearby and join in the celebrations. When deciding on accommodations in Dublin, we recommend focusing on hotels in the city center, particularly in the following neighborhoods: Stephen's Green/Grafton Street, Merrion Square, Temple Bar, O'Connell Street, Smithfield, Docksland, and Ballsbridge. For those seeking more budget-friendly options, consider staying in nearby cities within a 30-minute drive from Dublin such as Howth, Malahide, and Dalkey. Just keep in mind that you'll need to arrange transportation via taxis or trains to reach the city center.

Travel Note

Weather

To navigate Ireland's unpredictable weather, we suggest bringing warm layers, a raincoat, umbrella and comfortable walking shoes. Don't forget to pack sunglasses and hats or scarves for added warmth. The average temperature ranges from around 39.2 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit in March, so come prepared to stay cozy and enjoy our celebration regardless of the weather.

Travel Note

Transportation

Dublin is a highly walkable city, thanks to its compact layout, allowing you to stroll from many districts to the city center in about 30 or 40 minutes. For easy transportation, use the "FREE NOW" app to book taxis if needed. Public transportation, including buses and trains, are also convenient. While American driver's licenses are accepted for renting cars in Ireland, it's advisable to avoid driving if possible, as they drive on the opposite side of the road, which can be challenging for many travelers.
