Before we officially met, God's hand was at work to push us together. Our favorite story is how Grant just so happened to be visiting Ally's church the day she was baptized. His family usually went to The Chapel after moving to Fort Wayne, but one day they decided to switch it up and attend The Pointe. This very day in the summer of 2016, he witnessed Ally being baptized. Grant and Ally officially met a few months later.
Although she was a cheerleader and he played football and basketball at Homestead Highschool, Grant and Ally did not officially meet until October of 2016 (Her senior year and his Junior year). They met in a genetics class and still deem Mr. Arata as their matchmaker! After always working on assignments together in class, Grant finally got up the nerve to ask Ally out for a movie and ice cream.
Grant proposed to Ally on the first day of 2021. He told her his family was having a small gathering to watch the college football playoffs (so she would dress in something other than pj's haha) and that they needed to go pick up food for the gathering. On their way to pick up food, Grant acted as if something was really wrong with his car. He pulled over into Homestead High School, their meeting place, and drove up close to the football field. (This was a special location for them since Ally got to cheer Grant on while he played football). Grant got out to "examine the car" and eventually called Ally to also check it out. Although annoyed, thinking Grant was being dramatic, she did. While examining the tire, Grant got down on one knee behind her. After he proposed and she said yes, they picked up the food and returned home. Waiting at Grant's house were their closest friends, ready to celebrate the newly engaged couple!
