How We Met

11.21.21

I decided to do my quarterly redownload of dating apps on 11.12.21 & realized I had matched with Sean on both of them. First message from Sean was sent July 25th, I replied July 28th (I won’t embarrass Sean with his first line) but on August 29th after not getting a response Sean asks “maybe I could take you to dinner sometime” And on November 12th I responded “maybe you could” Sean said “Just a little delayed!” And so I messaged from the other app claiming it’s fate that Sean popped up on both. On November 21, 2021 after I tried to cancel (thank you for forcing me to go on the date, Syd!!), and was very “tired” from Erica’s wedding the night before, we go on our first date to the only place I would allow: The Spotted Dog & the rest is history 🤍

The Proposal

7.16.2023

When I knew I was ready to propose to Allie I started racking my brain about how, when, and where. I knew we were coming up on a vacation a few weeks later as well and I had a feeling she would be expecting something to happen then. Naturally, I didn’t want her to expect anything at all. So I began telling her brother, her mom, my family, and calling her dad. That was definitely intimidating to take on by myself. I got her dad’s phone number from her brother and saved his number in my phone under a false name so Allie didn’t get any ideas. I tried calling, got no answer. Then a couple days later, tried again and no answer so I sent a text asking him to give me a call when he had some time. Still no answer. I was getting real nervous now wondering: did he not like me, did he not approve for some reason.. I didn’t know and it was making me crazy. So I messaged her brother who was able to get her dad to give me a call early on a Saturday morning. I had to take the phone, run out of the bedroom and talk to him outside so Allie didn’t hear. Everything went great, we hit it off so my nerves were settled. I came back inside and told Allie it was a work call to try and breeze by it even though I wouldn’t run out of the room ever for a work call (haha). A couple days later, I was able to let Allie’s mom, best friend, and brother know I was going to ask her when we went to her mom’s to swim. (She wasn’t expecting anything). I suggested trying to wear something else and because we were swimming.. she looked at me like I was an idiot, which made sense because who would wear anything other than a swimsuit and t-shirt to go swimming. So I went with it. We get to her moms and her friend was going to come over with an excuse of needing to drop something off to Allie’s mom and when Allie walked back in with her friend, I would be there on my knee. Fast forward, her friend arrives, Allie goes to meet her and walks back in and there I am on my knee with the ring. Allie is in one of my t-shirts (way oversized for her) and is just in shock, smiles and giggles like “no way this is really happening.” She then walks up to me and says yes, and starts crying a bit. I’m so happy to be able to call her my fiancé now and I’m looking forward to each and every day together. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in October 2024!
