We're getting married!

Allie and Gunnar met through junior hockey in November of 2022. Allie was the social media manager for the Milwaukee Power and Gunnar played for the Oregon Tradesmen. Milwaukee and Oregon played in the same division, so the two saw each other a lot at the games not knowing a single thing about each other other than they both liked hockey...and that they both didn't like the opposing team very much. In November of 2022, Allie traveled to Oregon, Wisconsin with her mom Kris to watch Milwaukee play Oregon. After the game ended, Allie saw Gunnar in the lobby and he caught her eye right away. On the way home, Allie asked her mom, "Do you think Gunnar Schiffmann has a girlfriend?" Allie's mom then proceeded to text Gunnar's mom Mary, (they knew each other and hung out on a few occasions even before Allie and Gunnar from seeing each other at many hockey games), asking if he had a girlfriend. Allie was mortified. She couldn't believe she did that...especially because Milwaukee played Oregon that following weekend and she would have to see Gunnar with him knowing she had the hots for him. Looking back, if Kris did not text Mary, this all probably would have never happened. Gunnar then found Allie on social media, messaged her, and the rest is history!

Allie and Gunnar have been long distance for their entire relationship. Allie has lived in Milwaukee her whole life, and Gunnar has lived in Saint Germain for all of his. It is about 4 hours and 15 minutes between the two cities. When the two met, Allie was still in college and Gunnar was still playing hockey for Oregon. After Gunnar was done playing hockey, he decided to attend MATC-Madison for college majoring in architecture, which helped keep the distance to just over an hour. With Gunnar being a full time college student and adjusting to his first year, and Allie just recently graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and going right into her first year of teaching, they were both extremely busy, yet determined to make their relationship a priority no matter the distance or how busy life got. The two would take turns visiting one another, whether it was Milwaukee, Madison, or Saint Germain. Once Allie and Gunnar are married, Allie will be moved up to the Northwoods-a place that she holds dearly to her heart, as her family had a cabin there growing up, which we figured out is about 10 minutes from Gunnar's family's home- crazy! Gunnar will begin working at his dad's company, Cornerstone Builders, to get on the path of eventually taking it over, and Allie will be searching for a job to continue her love of teaching the littles.
