Allie and I met at a wedding during the summer of 2020- the Covid-19 lockdown days. The first time we met each other was the night before the wedding. It took no more than a moment to realize how beautiful Allie was and less than two minutes to understand she was brimming with stories of fun times and adventures had. In that small span of time, she somehow told me how much she loved to scuba and mentioned a handful of the cool places she’d been able to dive in. Was it jealousy? Was it intrigue? Was it just simply pure base attraction that made me want to keep talking to her? Yes. All those things. And after two days together, some help from a crazy old man, and a steep hike together to the top of a mountain in the pouring rain- we finally kissed. Next thing I knew, this crazy California girl was flying across the country to visit for a week. Sort of… flying to North Carolina would have been too easy for me. Rather, she needed me to earn it and made me pick her up in DC, then drive her the rest of the way to North Carolina (to be fair she was at a wedding in Philadelphia and took a greyhound halfway to nc- she made me add this part in). This marked the first of many trips taken together. Since then, we have flown countless times to see each other. Allie was working for Zoom at the time and could work remotely. This meant she would come stay with me for weeks at a time… only she was staying with my parents AND me. Somehow, those wild parents of mine didn’t scare her away at all. This told me she might be a keeper. I have had the time of my life with Allie since the first day we met and I see no end to that in sight. I have been honored to experience an unbelievable level of love, compassion and devotion from this woman since the first moments we spent together. I have benefitted time and again from her ability to smooth out my rough edges and have undeniably become a better person from her presence. It will be the honor of a lifetime to witness God’s plan for her and for us firsthand. We are so excited to finally tie the knot and hope all of you will be able to join us to celebrate with lots of wine, delicious food, beautiful scenery, and most importantly some great company!
