The Meeting

Double Hug Day

For years Allie & Cory have worked in the same industry, crossing paths many times while crewing boats and attending to customers but they never really had the opportunity to talk and get to know each other. One morning while driving to the West End for work, Allie in her Jeep & Cory in a work truck, they were cruising down the highway and ebbing & flowing through traffic, Cory mentioned to his crew in the passenger seat “that person driving that jeep knows how to drive”. Arriving into town and pulling past the Jeep and Cory realized it was Allie who was driving as the Jeep. Getting settled into their morning routine and setting up for the day charters Allie walked up to Cory and said good morning. Without hesitating Cory responded with a big hug followed by “Good Morning”. That was Hug #1. After chatting for a few minutes with a little flirting thrown in, they parted ways to go on their trips. However, Cory went in for an additional hug followed by “have a good trip”. Hug #2 of the day. What would soon follow is Allie asked Cory out for a drink and he replied “yeah ok”. And it was a good thing that he did!!

The Proposal

October 29, 2021

In October 2021, Allie and Cory planned a trip to California to visit family and road trip around the state, making their final stop in Yosemite National Park. Months before their trip, Cory had mentioned some specific plans to his Aunt Nancy about his intentions to propose to Allie. Aunt Nancy told Cory that she had his grandmothers wedding ring and asked if he wanted it to give to Allie. Emphatically, "yes." After family time and traveling all over California, Cory doing his best to keep his grandmothers ring hidden from Allie, they were finally getting to Yosemite. * Side Note* Cory was very close to his grandmother "Oma" growing up, so remembering her after she had passed away has always been important. His plan was to propose on October 29, which happens to be Oma's birthday and doing it with her ring couldn’t be more meaningful. On October 29, with 75 degree weather, clear skies, and Yosemitie Falls flowing in the background, Cory turned to Allie got down on one knee, presented Oma's wedding ring and asked Allie for her hand in marriage. Which leads us to where we are now.
