Just kidding (kind of)!… Alli and Yelnats matched on the dating app, Hinge, in February 2020. They skipped the small talk and had their first date at a bar/restaurant called Calypso in DC. The two hit it off marvelously, and drinks turned to dinner. At the close of the evening, Alli was shocked to learn that Yelnats was heading to the train station to return to Baltimore. Alli likes to joke that Yelnats catfished her because she was firmly against dating anyone outside of a five mile radius. Yelnats likes to defend himself by saying that Alli didn’t have her Hinge profile settings set correctly (but that’s beside the point). Alli and Yelnats went on two or three dates that February, but the relationship was slow-moving due to the distance. In March 2020, Alli and Yelnats were both sent home from work during the COVID pandemic. Both living alone, they began talking on the phone for several hours a day. Yelnats eventually tricked Alli into driving the 1h15m to Baltimore multiple times a week. The couple began working from home, binging Love Island, and cooking elaborate meals together. From then on, the two have been inseparable.
